OLIVE HEALTH FACTS

Olive oil contains a mixture of health promoting Fatty acids. The main benefit from this good oil comes from the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which are known to lower LDL cholesterol levels in the blood and some even increase levels of HDL cholesterol, the beneficial cholesterol.  LDL cholesterol increases the likelihood of heart disease and HDL cholesterol lowers the likelihood.
 
Olive oil contains lots of antioxidants which neutralize free radicals in the blood. Free radicals form during cell respiration which occurs in every cell in the human body. Scientists have linked free radicals with several diseases including various cancers and diseases of the heart. The antioxidants and vitamins in Olive Oil help prevent body cell aging and help preserve the oil itself.
 
Olive oil does not improve with age. If you purchase quality Olive oil that has been prepared from carefully selected olives and prepared in such a way that preserves its favourable properties, you should enjoy it within about six months of purchase while the health benefits are most effective. Olive Oil should be stored in a cool (but not refrigerated) place away from light.
